What is Pure Listener Productions?
|
|
Pure Listener Productions was founded by Babatunde Williams and Takeshi Tsukamoto in Spring 1998 as an outlet for their artistic expression in various mediums, including the visual arts, creative writing, and (most notably) music. Over the years, Pure Listener Productions has evolved into a tight-knit unit of friends dedicated to sharing and contributing to the diversity of music that moves us.

Founder of PLP, Producer, DJ, and Organizer
While Babatunde’s day job keeps him busy with the business side of music, he also takes time to produce house, R&B and just about anything else he feels like producing. Currently based in Washington, DC, he occasionally promotes events in conjunction with the DC Sanctuary, dubbed as “DC’s only shelter for your body and soul”.

Founder of PLP, Producer, DJ, and Graphic Designer
Born in Tokyo, Takeshi moved to the US in 1993 where he earned his bachelor’s degree in graphic design. He has since performed as a DJ at numerous parties in Boston (where he resided after college) and in several notable venues on the east coast including the DC Sanctuary. Upon his return to Tokyo in 2003, Takeshi’s focus turned to music production. He primarily enjoys deep house and Detroit techno and currently holds a residency at MENTAL POSITION at OVO, Nakameguro.

Sadahiro Nakano aka Sada

Producer
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Sada finds his greatest influence in Black music and currently produces R&B for some of Japan’s newest and upcoming R&B artists. He is also a producer of house music and released his debut house single on the Grifter Recordings imprint. Sada’s personal page can be viewed here.

Writer and DJ
With his multi-lingual abilities (Japanese, English, French, AND Spanish), Yuhiko continues to develop a unique talent for writing, not unlike his unique talent for spinning. He is also a resident DJ at MENTAL POSITION at OVO, Nakameguro. Yuhiko’s personal page can be viewed here.

DJ, Organizer, and Web Master of the PLP site
Polo purchased his first set of turntables in 1990, and started out playing Electronica, Breakbeats, Bossa, Jazz, and Soul. Polo’s extensive experience and contacts within the Tokyo club scene equipped him with the necessary skills to establish Mental Position Productions as well as the MENTAL POSITION party at OVO, Nakameguro. Polo has supported the PLP site since its first launch in 1998, and continues to support the site in its newest form.
